Warehouse optimisation · from the floor

Your pickers walk too much.

We work out how much, and how to shorten it. One day on your floor, a well-founded plan within a week.

Short route · fast movers up front
Floor plan with six racks A to F and the dispatch area bottom left: when the fast movers are spread out at the back, the picker walks through every aisle; when they sit up front near dispatch, the route becomes short ABCDEF DISPATCH

Why is your best-selling item at the back?

  1. Fast movers sit at the back

Items are stored where there once was space, not where they are picked most often. So every order starts with a walk.

  2. The pick list follows the codes

If your location codes do not run logically through the warehouse, everyone takes a detour, however good the layout is.

  3. Nobody has time to work it out

You can see it could be better. But between orders, nobody calculates what it costs and what it would gain.
